From 2006 KAPE decided to start with some UE projects in transport and to come up with challenge of promoting safe and economic style of driving – Ecodriving in Poland.
Ogilvy  Public Relations  undertook to provide Ecodriven Campaign in Poland.

 

The patronage of honour took the Polish Ministry of Transport, the Polish Ministry of Economy and the Polish Ministry of Environment.
To organize eco-driving campaign KAPE cooperates closely with the Polish Automobile And Motor Federation and the Cracow University of Technology – Institute of Automobiles and International Combustion Engines.
Media patrons of the Polish ECODRIVEN campaign are weekly magazine ‘Auto Świat’ and monthly magazine  ‘Auto Firmowe’.

During Campaign in Poland following actions are planned:

  • Opening conference in the middle of September 2007 with presentation of Ecodriven project connected with car show;
  • Three regional events or conferences for drivers with presentation of Ecodriven project;
  • Multimedia presentation of Ecodriven during four meetings organized by external institutions;
  • Two ecodriving training programmes for driving school instructors;
  • Distribution of promotional materials  (leaflet, brochure, poster and sticker) during the Campaign meetings as well as by the Polish Automobile and Motorcycle Federation and other partners of the project themselves.

Events

Press conference opening all-Poland campaign.
13 September 2007, Warsaw

The conference opening Polish campaign of the EU ECODRIVEN project took place on 13 September 2007 in Warsaw (race track Sluzew).

 
During the conference representatives of patrons, partners, environmental protection, power and automotive industry institutions, journalists (ca 50 participants) became familiar with the details of the project and planned actions which were introduced by Mrs Urszula Ajersz, Marketing and PR Director at KAPE S.A., and the coordinator of ECODRIVEN in Poland. Mr Tomasz Talarczyk, The Association for Improving Safety of Road Traffic ‘Road and Safety’ representative presented ‘Eco-driving in Poland – fashion or necessity?’. LeasePlan Fleet Management Poland, who is partner of the campaign described details of their GreenPlan Programme promoting ecological fleets.


Thanks to Toyota Motor Poland, main partner of the campaign, participants could try driving with eco-driving instructors and see or drive hybrid car - Toyota Prius.
During the conference representative of the Polish Motor Association declared once again their strong support in promoting of ecodriving rules in Poland.

 

 

Regional Event
28 October 2007, Poznan

The event  promoting rules of Ecodriving in Wielkopolska region took place on 28 October 2007 nearby Poznan (Race Track Przezmierow).


Particpants– representatives of local authorities, institution and associations operating in transport, energy and environment protection sectors had opportunity to widen their knowledge about goals of Ecodriven project and rules of Ecodriving.


Thanks to Toyota Motor Poland, main partner of the campaign, participants could try driving with eco-driving instructors and see or drive hybrid car - Toyota Prius.


Mrs. Urszula Ajersz representing KAPE – coordinator of the project in Poland granted several media interviews (e.g. regional public and private TV stations).

    Golden Rules of ecodriving

    1. Shift up as soon as possible
      Shift up between 2.000 and 2.500 revolutions.
    2. Maintain a steady speed
      Use the highest gear possible and drive with low engine RPM
    3. Anticipate traffic flow
      Look ahead as far as possible and anticipate to surrounding traffic
    4. Decelerate Smoothly
      When you have to slow down or to stop, decelerate smoothly by releasing the accelerator in time, leaving the car in gear
    5. Check the tyre pressure frequently
      25% too low tyre pressure increases rolling resistance by 10% and your fuel consumption by 2%.
